Women’s Book Club Book List

Fellowship is more than sharing a meal together.  Fellowship is sharing life.  Fellowship is journeying together through life in Christ.  One of the most rewarding and relaxing ways that our women have found is to read books together.  After reading the books (most of which we have been able to find for $4-$5 used on Amazon.com) the women get together and talk about spiritual issues/topics that are related to the central theme of the books.  Please note, not all of these books are based on doctrinal beliefs that our church ascribes too.  That is why the discussion time/meeting time each month is essential.

One Response to Women’s Book Club Book List

  1. Nancy Cavin Pitts says:

    Hello Bethel Baptist Church!
I have written a Christian love story that I believe would be a wonderful pick for your church book club. When You Come Home: The True Story of a Soldier’s Heroism and His Wife’s Sacrifice is about my mother, Daphne Kelley Cavin, and her soldier husband Raymond, who was killed while fighting in France in World War II. Inspired by the poem my mother sent her husband, When You Come Home is based on the true story of Raymond and Daphne Kelley. The book tells of their young love in the heartland at the brink of war, and of the crushing uncertainty and fear as they find themselves a world apart. And when the poem comes back to Daphne – blood-stained by Raymond’s mortal wounds – When You Come Home shares the extraordinary event that restores the grieving young widow’s faith in the transcendent power of love.

Dr. Leroy Lawson of The Christian Standard magazine reviewed my book in the July 8, 2012, edition, and referred to my mother’s story as “a testimony of faith that overcomes doubt.”

From the numerous emails and messages I have received, it is clear that When You Come Home is touching hearts and encouraging readers in their faith. In fact, my book is fast becoming a popular choice for church book clubs throughout the Midwest. To assist the clubs, I have developed discussion questions, which are available at no cost

When You Come Home may be purchased online at http://www.amazon.com. If you desire more information or would like me to forward discussion questions about When You Come Home, please give me a call or email me at beacon58@centurytel.net. I hope you will consider my book as a possible future selection!

    Blessings to you,

    Nancy Cavin Pitts
